Farzana Adell

Farzana Adell is a Gender Studies researcher, and advocate for women’s rights, committed to gender equality, she established the Gender Equality Research Organization in Afghanistan, as an initiative to champion women’s rights within Afghanistan. Currently, she is a member of the Core Advisory Group to the Association for Women’s Rights in Development (AWID) based in Canada, focusing on a strategic and intentional approach to co-strategizing, and advocating for a diverse, strong, and responsive feminist funding ecosystem in South Asia; https://www.awid.org/ and a member of the research on Afghan Migrants at the Global Diversity and Inequality Research Centre (GDIRC) in London:https://www.londonmet.ac.uk/research/centres-groups-and-units/global-diversities-and-inequalities-research-centre/projects-and-partners/afghan-migrants-in-london/.

Since 2005, Farzana has actively engaged in women’s capacity-building projects, collaborating with local and international organisations in Afghanistan. Her extensive experience has allowed her to contribute significantly to the empowerment of women and the advancement of their rights.

In addition to her impactful work on the ground, Farzana has served as the Chief of Staff to the senior advisor of the President of Afghanistan in United Nations Affairs, specifically focusing on matters about the United Nations activity in Afghanistan

Farzana holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Cardiff Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom. Furthermore, she has earned an MA in Women and Child Abuse from London Metropolitan University. Where the focus of her dissertation was on “Domestic abuse experienced by Afghan women living in the UK”, solidifying her expertise in the critical issues affecting women and children. Her research articles have been widely published in international journals, contributing to global conversations on gender equality.
